More Star Wars movies? No!

Episodes VII-IX are rumoured (via Slashdot and other places). Roger Ebert apparently believes that more are a distinct possibility.

Look at episodes I-VI as a whole and ask yourself what the series is about. It's about the life of Anakin Skywalker – his turbulent upbringing, fall into the dark side, and ultimate redemption. Six movies tell this story from childhood to grave. Which is why any addition is now going to be an add-on, an after-thought, not in keeping with the existing movie canon.

6 episodes is enough, George. Some were great; more than half were good. Thanks for that. Now stop, please.

  1. We can but hope, but with a TV and another animated series on the way, all we can do is pray that George lets someone else helm them…someone who can still write and direct.
While they're at it, they need to relearn their fight choreography lessons from Episode I so we don't end up with the random blur of a lightsaber show Ep.III turned into.
Still, I enjoyed it. Moreso than than the first two prequels overall (at the mo). Clone Wars didn't stand up to repeated viewings, so I'll reserve final judgement on Ep.III for now =p

Btw, if you haven't already checked them out, the animated series is really rather good. In an action packed “light” kinda way =)
