I would like to take this opportunity to wish all my pagan friends (and anyone else that just thinks it's cool) a happy and peaceful solstice.
Interestingly though, the earth is actually nearing its farthest point from the Sun this year. 5th July marks the aphelion.
(Note to clueless radio announcers: the solstice is not the first day of Summer.)
