Now that we're in 2005, I have noticed something strange. I have almost no recollection of the first half of this decade. What I can “remember” is mostly what I know happened, rather than any real remembering. The things I can actually remember are few and far between, viz. 9/11 (the JFK assassination of our generation), going snowboarding last winter. I also know that I changed jobs a couple of times and finished 3 or 4 projects in that time. But I don't really remember it happening. Recent films and chart hits that I guess came out in 2002 or 2001 turn out to have been around since 1998. It's weird. We all have a good picture of what made the 80s and the 90s, but perhaps this decade has no identity yet…
